In 1999, shortly after Coty UK had completed the implementation of JBA software to manage its commercial operations, Andrew Jewson joined Coty as UK IT Director. At that time, Coty's JBA system was supported by SBA – a successful ERP Systems Integrator formed by Jeremy Bingham and Andy Smith, both of whom had been directly involved in the implementation and configuration of the JBA software for Coty. Coty's policy at that time was to outsource support and SBA provided a wide range of services including 1st line application support, as well as on-going development and customisation of the JBA system.
 

Specialist ERP Recruitment Services

Jeremy and Andy also ran Catch - a highly successful IT and Finance Recruitment Consultancy. Both felt that this business was ideally suited to support Coty as it continued to expand its UK IT department, and approached Andrew Jewson to explore a possible business relationship.

“Catch approached me to ascertain whether they could work with us to address our recruitment issues,” continued Andrew Jewson. “I was, of course, familiar with Jeremy's and Andy's technical consultancy and support services. initially I invited them to compete with our existing recruitment agencies so that I could gauge their calibre.”

The recruitment services that Catch provided to Coty turned out to be highly effective. “They have a knack of finding the right people,” said Andrew. “They were familiar with our organisation and with our software and were able to come up with highly credible shortlists very quickly.”
 

Preferred Partner

Catch became Coty's preferred IT recruitment partner early in 2003, providing Coty with a wide range of permanent employees including AS400 application and development specialists, Infrastructure technicians and IT managers.
 
"In 2002 we were embarking on a recruitment drive for Business Intelligence specialists," explained Andrew. "At that time, Business Intelligence was a relatively new concept and experienced, capable and professional specialists were very thin on the ground. Catch was able to provide us with a shortlist of high calibre professionals, some of whom remain with us today".
 
Andy Smith, Operations Director at Catch takes up the story. "Across our client base we build relationships based upon understanding and commitment", he explained. "Our knowledge of both the Coty business and the systems that they have implemented means that we have the expertise and the experience to respond to all of Coty's IT recruitment requirements by only putting forward the best possible candidates."
 

Managing the Entire Process

Liaising closely with Coty's IT management team, Catch's IT recruitment services start with an in-depth appreciation of Coty's requirements for each available position – whether this be for an IT junior or a seasoned high-level IT manager. “Before we can begin to identify potential candidates, we need to fully understand the roles and responsibilities that Coty envisages for each available position,” continued Andy Smith. “Coty is an extremely popular place to work, and offers excellent career progression, so in addition to the necessary levels of technical competencies, we have to ensure that each candidate we put forward fits into the Coty culture and can quickly become part of the team. This is just part of the pre-interview briefing that we give to all of our candidates.”

“Unlike many other IT recruitment organisations, Catch provides us with extensive preparation services,” continued Andrew Jewson. “They pre-interview all candidates for each role and provide us with a concise and highly detailed shortlist, even advising us on their preferred candidate.”

Once Coty has selected the candidates that it wishes to interview, Catch works closely with the relevant Coty personnel to arrange interviews, provide feedback to both candidates and Coty, and manage the offer processes to successful candidates.
