Our client are seeking an experienced Data Migration Lead to oversee the migration of data from AX2012 to Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 FO & SCM). The ideal candidate will be responsible for gathering and interpreting data migration requirements from internal stakeholders, coordinating with external vendors to ensure effective data migration strategies, and ensuring alignment with the overall project objectives. This role requires strong knowledge of finance and accounting, technical acumen in data management, and excellent communication skills for effective collaboration between cross-functional teams.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience (5+ years) as a Data Migration Lead or Data Manager, preferably in a D365 Finance & Operations implementation project.
  • Solid understanding of finance, accounting, and business operations to ensure accurate migration of financial data.
  • Experience working with both on-premise and cloud-based ERP systems.
  • Strong understanding of data migration processes including extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dataverse and other D365 data management tools.
  • Knowledge of data modeling, data mapping, and data validation techniques.
  • Experience with SQL, data profiling tools, and reporting tools is a plus.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with both business SMEs and technical teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Certification in Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365 FO) is highly desirable.
  • Experience with large-scale ERP implementations or migrations in the finance domain.

 

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Engage with business SMEs to understand data requirements and determine what data should be migrated.
  • Lead workshops to capture current data structure, data quality, and migration needs from legacy systems to D365 FO.
  • Analyze existing data quality, identify gaps, and define cleansing requirements with SMEs.
  • Prioritize data elements that must be migrated based on business needs.
  • Collaborate with the vendor’s technical team to devise the best approach for migrating data, including ETL strategies.
  • Define data migration workflows and timelines, ensuring proper data mapping between legacy systems and D365 FO.
  • Ensure all aspects of the data migration are well-planned and executed.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all data migration-related discussions between the client and the vendor.
  • Provide clear and actionable feedback to vendors regarding the client’s expectations and requirements.
  • Coordinate communication between project managers, developers, and SMEs.
  • Ensure all data migration activities comply with relevant data governance standards, security protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee data validation, reconciliation, and sign-off processes for each phase of the migration.
  • Coordinate data migration testing, including developing test scripts for data validation and end-to-end migration testing.
  • Conduct post-migration reviews and audits to ensure accuracy and completeness of migrated data.
  • Address any issues or discrepancies found during testing and post-migration activities.
  • Proactively identify potential risks in the data migration process and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Resolve any data migration-related issues, ensuring timely escalation when necessary.

Location: Hybrid/ London
