Our manufacturing client is seeking an AX2012 Systems Administrator to ensure the optimal performance, stability, and security of the Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 (AX 2012) environment during a critical business period, while supporting the migration planning, execution, and data transition to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O). This role is crucial for maintaining business continuity in a manufacturing setting while facilitating a major ERP system upgrade.
The role can be completed on a fully remote basis from anywhere in the US. Candidates must be US citizens or green card holders. 3rd party applications will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Dynamics AX 2012 Administration (Primary Focus)
- System Monitoring & Maintenance: Proactively monitor the AX 2012 application and associated infrastructure (AOS, database, reporting services, etc.) to ensure high availability and performance.
- User & Security Management: Manage user accounts, permissions, and security roles within AX 2012, adhering to internal IT policies and regulatory requirements.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Provide expert-level support for AX 2012 issues, including application errors, performance bottlenecks, batch job failures, and integration issues.
- Database Management: Collaborate with the DBA team on SQL Server maintenance tasks (e.g., backups, indexing, performance tuning) specific to the AX 2012 database.
- Application Lifecycle Management: Manage configuration changes, hotfixes, and deployment of minor code modifications in non-production and production AX 2012 environments.
- Reporting: Manage and maintain SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and other AX-integrated reporting tools.
- Migration Planning: Assist the IT and Project teams in the technical planning and preparation phases for the D365 F&O migration, focusing on infrastructure and system prerequisites.
- Data Transition: Work with functional and development teams to identify, cleanse, extract, and transform data from AX 2012 for migration to D365 F&O, ensuring data integrity throughout the process.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date technical documentation for all AX 2012 and relevant D365 F&O environments and processes.
- Collaboration: Work closely with manufacturing operations, finance, and other business departments to understand system usage and support needs.
- Vendor Management: Liaise with external consultants and Microsoft support as needed for system-specific technical issues.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or ERP Technical Consultant with a strong focus on Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 (AX 2012 R3 preferred).
- Demonstrable experience with AX 2012 technical components: Application Object Server (AOS), SQL Server, batch services, and reporting services.
- Solid understanding of SQL Server administration (e.g., T-SQL, performance tuning, SSIS, SSRS) in relation to an ERP system.
- Familiarity with the manufacturing and supply chain modules within an ERP system.
- Experience or deep understanding of the technical landscape of Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O), including Lifecycle Services (LCS).
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell) for automation.
- Relevant IT-related degree or professional certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certifications).
