We are seeking a Cookie Consent Web Developer / Technical Consultant with strong website development and consent management experience to support a global technology business with an existing cookie consent setup that is not currently functioning as intended.

This is a live environment rather than a greenfield implementation. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing, auditing, and reconfiguring the current setup to ensure cookie consent delivery, preference control, and prior consent enforcement are working correctly. The role requires somebody who can contribute from both a hands-on technical and solution perspective, with the ability to quickly assess an existing web environment and implement improvements.

The website estate includes Umbraco 13, with OneTrust already in place as part of the wider parent domain structure. While any previous experience with OneTrust or Umbraco would be highly beneficial, the key requirement is somebody with strong .NET and JavaScript capability who understands how consent logic, website scripts, and tracking behaviour interact in a live environment.

Key Skills & Experience

Must Haves

  • Strong hands on experience in website development, ideally as a Web Developer, Full Stack Developer, .NET Developer, or Technical Consultant
  • Strong .NET / C# experience in web-based environments
  • Strong JavaScript capability, with the ability to audit, troubleshoot, and reconfigure scripts in a live website environment
  • Demonstrable experience with cookie consent delivery, preference control, or consent management implementations
  • Experience ensuring prior consent is technically enforced correctly across websites
  • Strong understanding of website tracking behaviour, script governance, and how consent tooling interacts with front end delivery
  • Ability to review an existing setup, identify issues, and implement practical improvements quickly
  • Strong communication skills, able to advise from both a technical and solution perspective
  • Experience working in live production environments where changes must be assessed carefully and deployed effectively

Nice to Haves

  • Previous OneTrust implementation or configuration experience
  • Previous experience working with Umbraco, ideally Umbraco 13
  • Experience with CMS led websites and multi-site or inherited domain structures
  • Experience with cookie categorisation, website banners, or consent platform configuration
  • Knowledge of tag management, privacy tooling, or broader tracking governance
  • Experience supporting multilingual or international web estates
  • Experience working in short-term contract engagements where rapid impact is required

Responsibilities

  • Review and assess the existing cookie consent setup across the live website environment
  • Audit and reconfigure website scripts and consent logic to ensure prior consent is enforced correctly
  • Support the optimisation of cookie consent delivery and user preference controls
  • Identify areas where the current setup is not functioning as intended and implement practical technical improvements
  • Work across the existing web architecture to ensure consent behaviour aligns correctly with website functionality and tracking requirements
  • Advise on best practice from both a technical and implementation perspective
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure the revised setup is stable, compliant, and fit for purpose
  • Support the business in improving the performance and reliability of its existing consent management solution

Location: Europe – Fully Remote

Duration: Initial 3 month contract
