Copilot Lead – Join a trusted Microsoft Partner specialising in business and technology transformation for project-based companies. Reporting to the CTO, you will set the vision, strategy, and execution plan for AI and digital product innovation across the Microsoft ERP portfolio. This is a hands-on leadership role that blends product ownership with delivery oversight – shaping an innovation roadmap, prioritising high-value use cases, and turning concepts into scalable, market-ready IP. You will lead a small, cross-functional squad initially of 1–3, scaling over time, and work closely with consulting, engineering, and go-to-market teams to embed AI into Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience

  • 10+ years across AI, digital product innovation, or enterprise technology, with significant exposure to Azure and Microsoft ERP ecosystems.
  • Proven leadership of cross-functional teams and successful delivery of AI solutions in complex enterprise environments.
  • Deep understanding of Dynamics 365 (F&O, CE, BC), the Power Platform, and Azure AI services.
  • Demonstrable experience with Responsible AI governance, model operations, and scalable data architectures.

Technical and Professional Skills

  • Product ownership excellence – roadmapping, backlog management, value hypothesis, and outcome-based prioritisation.
  • Strong architecture and engineering acumen across Azure AI, Databricks, Fabric, Copilot Studio, and integration patterns for D365 and Power Platform.
  • MLOps and lifecycle management – CI/CD for models, monitoring, drift management, and continuous improvement.
  • Hands-on capability in programming and data engineering (for example Python or C#), with fluency in APIs, connectors, and security.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, facilitation, and communication, bridging technical vision and business value.
  • Pre-sales and proposition development experience, including case building and ROI modelling.

Behavioural Attributes

  • Strategic yet hands-on; comfortable moving from whiteboard to working prototype to production.
  • Curious, ethical, and commercially minded; evidence-driven decision-maker.
  • Collaborative leader who coaches teams and builds trust with clients and partners.
  • Clear and concise communicator with strong storytelling skills.

Responsibilities

Innovation and Strategy

  • Define and continuously refine the AI and digital innovation strategy aligned to business goals and Microsoft’s roadmap.
  • Scan, assess, and prioritise emerging capabilities – LLMs, agentic patterns, Copilot extensibility, digital twins – for ERP scenarios.
  • Establish and govern an AI ethics, compliance, and data-readiness framework to enable responsible innovation at scale.

Product Ownership and IP

  • Own the backlog for internal accelerators and market-facing AI products; translate outcomes into epics, user stories, and clear acceptance criteria.
  • Orchestrate the full lifecycle from ideation to launch and scale, ensuring solutions are secure, supportable, and commercially positioned.
  • Drive certification and partner alignment where applicable, maximising Microsoft co-sell opportunities.

Solution Design and Delivery

  • Lead the end-to-end design and architecture of AI solutions using Azure AI services, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, and Copilot Studio, integrated with Dynamics 365 (F&O, CE, BC) and the Power Platform.
  • Embed intelligent automation, predictive analytics, and natural-language experiences within ERP and line-of-business processes for project-based industries.
  • Guide MLOps practices for deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement; set engineering standards for reliability, security, and cost control.
  • Maintain a rapid prototyping cadence to validate value fast, then harden promising POCs into robust, reusable assets.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Build, mentor, and scale a cross-functional team spanning data engineering, AI engineering, and UX.
  • Chair the internal design authority for AI and digital assets, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and delivery frameworks.
  • Foster a culture of curiosity, ethical AI, and measurable value delivery.

Client and Market Engagement

  • Act as subject matter expert in discovery, advisory, and solution definition sessions with clients.
  • Create thought leadership – case studies, webinars, and forum content – to showcase capability and impact.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing to drive adoption, outcomes, and ROI.

Governance, Metrics, and Reporting

  • Define KPIs for adoption, model performance, time-to-value, and commercial impact; instrument dashboards and feedback loops.
  • Report on pipeline health, risks, dependencies, and opportunities to the leadership team.

Key Stakeholders

  • CTO – strategic direction, governance, and prioritisation.
  • Practice Directors and Solution Architects – design authority, standards, and delivery alignment.
  • Functional consultants and technical teams – integration to Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform.
  • Sales and Marketing – proposition development, co-sell, and commercialisation.
  • Microsoft Partner Managers – roadmap insights and joint opportunities.
  • Clients and executive sponsors – value validation and scale.
