Our UK-based end-user client are looking for a new Head of IT. This role involves both strategy and day-to-day operations, analysing systems to get insights on product details such as costs, selling prices, logistics, and compliance. Knowledge in these areas is key.

The successful candidate will have strong product knowledge in FMCG, especially luxury goods and a have a strong understanding of distribution systems well. Candidates must also have experience with the application side of ERP systems (ideally Dynamics NAV or Similar) and Infrastructure experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with Directors to shape the strategic direction of IT, providing guidance on creating robust plans that align with best practices, business objectives, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop short and long-term operational IT plans, addressing both software and infrastructure requirements.
  • Oversee relationships with third-party logistics providers, ensuring the implementation of reliable technology solutions that support business requirements.
  • Manage all supplier contracts, including service levels and associated costs.
  • Serve as a central point of contact for all IT-related matters within the business, including infrastructure decisions.
  • Liaise with suppliers to address software and infrastructure needs, establishing clear strategies for delivering IT solutions that meet business objectives.
  • Implement a robust change control process for any alterations to IT software or infrastructure, aimed at supporting business needs, driving improvement, and minimizing the risk of business disruption.
  • Develop the annual IT budget in alignment with business objectives and monitor actual costs versus budgeted expenses.
  • Take charge of project management for all development work, adhering to best practice principles.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience in product, FMCG, or luxury goods industries is a must.
  • Strong grasp of various IT systems, networks, and infrastructure elements.
  • Demonstrated track record in developing and executing IT strategies aligned with overall company objectives.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a small team of IT professionals effectively.
  • Dedication to delivering top-notch IT services and support to both internal and external clients, prioritizing user experience and satisfaction.
  • Proficient in overseeing IT projects from inception through completion.
  • Experience in selecting and managing third-party vendors, contractors, and service providers.
  • A mind-set for innovation, consistently exploring new technologies, methodologies, and best practices to optimize IT operations and fuel business innovation.
  • Competence in identifying, evaluating, and mitigating IT-related risks, including cybersecurity threats, data breaches, and system vulnerabilities.
  • Familiarity with pertinent laws, regulations, and industry standards related to data security, privacy, and IT governance.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for translating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, fostering interdepartmental collaboration, and negotiating with vendors.
